DAHMER

The first true crime series that I will be reviewing is the new                         Dahmer (Monster: the Jeffrey Dahmer story)

This new true crime documentary recreates the chilling crimes that Jeffrey Dahmer (Milwaukee Cannibal) committed. The series since being released at the start of the month has gone on to smash records in Netflix history. Jeffrey Dahmer was an American serial killer who committed his crimes from 1987-1991 his crimes consisted of cannibalism and necrophilia (sexual acts performed on corpses). It's tough to be said that he had killed up to 17 people. Following the crimes that he committed he had been sentenced to life imprisonment.

                                Documentary Timeline

-The series starts by unveiling to us the concerning behaviours that Dahmer showed at a young age. He showed interest in things such as Taxidermy and dissecting animals.

- We are then shown that his mum and dad get a divorce. This then has an impact on Jeffreys's later life. This is also along with when Jeffrey discovers he has a fetish for internal organs.

- In 1978 Jeffrey commits his first murder. His first victim was a hitchhiker who he later murders in his childhood home and Disguards of his body parts in his garden.

- Lionel (Jeffreys's father) shows concern for his drinking habits and forces Jeffrey to join the army. During this period of his life, he becomes familiar with tranquilizers, and he was trained to become a medical specialist.

- After being discharged from the army due to alcohol abuse, Jeffrey then moved in with his grandmother where he proceeded to kill another 3 victims. He would then proceed to move into his own apartment and kill another 11 people.

- In 1991 Dahmer is caught and arrested for his crimes as one of his victims escaped. He was sentenced to 941 years in jail without any chance of parole.

- 2 years into his sentence Jeffrey Dahmer was killed by a fellow inmate, Christopher Scarver.

                                             Review

Overall, I found this series very interesting to watch as it was very detailed. I found due to the story being told it was more intriguing to watch compared to your typical documentary. However, from doing further research and watching other versions of the story, there were parts that were amplified and some that were missing.

Rating: 8/10
